Software Developer Extraordinaire

Hi, I’m Bob “Wombat” Hogg, a software engineer currently living in Toronto, Canada.

I’m currently working as a software engineer on Google Cloud’s Firestore database.

You may remember me from when I was an elite Java developer at Okta, a Java dev, SRE, and cloud infrastructure wrangler at BlueCat Networks, a web developer at SugarCRM Inc, or a maintainer of Linuxbrew. Or perhaps from some of my security research.

My programming languages of choice are C#, Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript, but I’ve also used PHP, Ruby, C/C++, and Lisp/Scheme in the past. My experience with Golang and Swift are minimal and virtually nonexistent respectively, but I’d definitely like to learn them.

I’m a big believer in strong testing practices - good unit tests, functional tests, end-to-end tests, and performance tests are all a must, and you need to understand your code coverage and feature coverage so that you’re neither missing edge cases nor redundantly covering the same cases over and over.

My most recent open-source project was the puzzle game What The Hex?, soon to be available from Google Play.
